Privacy & terms

WizPrly News is a product of WizPrly Digital Studio (Pty) Ltd, South Africa. This page explains what happens when you use it.

What we collect

Services we use

The site is hosted on Cloudflare. To answer a search, our server (not your browser) contacts OpenStreetMap's geocoders (Nominatim and Photon), the GDELT Project's news search and publishers' news feeds, and public social media services (Bluesky, Mastodon, Lemmy, Reddit, YouTube). They see our server's requests, not your device. The map on a results page is loaded from OpenStreetMap by your browser, and fonts are loaded from Google Fonts.

Social media posts

Public posts that mention a place are shown separately from news, labelled as unverified, cut to a short snippet, and shown without usernames. We never store them. If a post about you appears and you want it gone, ask the platform it came from to remove it; once removed there, it stops appearing here.

News content

Headlines and short snippets link to the original publisher, who owns the content. Worldwide news search is powered in part by The GDELT Project. We rank stories automatically by how closely they relate to the place and how recent they are; a story's position is not an endorsement. Check important information with the publisher.

Fair use of the service

Please don't use automated tools to scrape WizPrly News or send large numbers of searches. We may limit or block traffic that harms the service for others. The service is provided as is, without guarantees that every source is available at all times.

Your rights

Under South Africa's Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA), and the GDPR where it applies, you can ask what personal information we hold about you and ask us to correct or delete it, by emailing maphutimoviousteffo@gmail.com. Because we don't keep searches linked to people, in most cases there is nothing to return.
